Hello teacher friend, WELCOME!
I’m Anne and I’ve been teaching in Surrey, BC, for 25 years. Early in my career, I became fascinated with how young children learn to read and noticed how this was easy for some and difficult for others. This inspired me to complete a Graduate Diploma in Literacy, work as an Early Literacy Teacher, and eventually facilitate year-long literacy inquiries with teachers as Early Reading Advocate. I am continually looking to improve my practice and apply research to the classroom.
As well, my family moved to Canada from Kyrgyzstan when I was 4 and I entered Kindergarten the following year with no English. As a result, growing up multilingual and as an English Language Learner informs my practice.
Currently, I am passionate about applying all the knowledge and experience I have gained to classroom literacy practices. Join me for the journey!
