I recently had the opportunity to share on the topic of Classroom Implementation of Mnemonic Letters during a virtual lunch & learn for our district, SD36. Below you will find the recording and slides with links to resources. A number of the resources I mention are already available through links on my blog, but I did add a few new free resources such as plain and dotted alphabets with arrows for letter formation. These are an important classroom addition to a mnemonic letter alphabet which has only lower case letters. My suggestion? Display the mnemonic alphabet of your choice in a prominent spot in your classroom (often above your whiteboard), and display the upper and lowercase alphabet with formation arrows somewhere lower, where students can come and trace the formation with their finger when they need a reminder. The other advantage is that these upper and lower case letter do not add an additional alphabet picture cue. We want to keep things simple, focused, and intentional.

Another new resource is the deck of ONlit letters with a QRcode that links to all the instructional letter videos.

Later this week, I will post about Incremental Rehearsal, an evidence-based instructional practice that helps students remember things like letter sounds and letter names.
